Information

History:
Built in 1781 in the village of Dyke, some 5 miles from Forres, this charming little church gives a warm welcome to all vistors to Sunday worship. Unusually for a Scottish church, there is a crypt, and the triple decker pulpit is also rare. The top pulpit was for the Minister, in the middle was the desk of the precentor who led the singing before the organ was installed. At the bottom was the penitent's box, where miscreants would be required to stand and endure public admonition. Old Session minutes record the names of those who were punished in this way
