Information

History:
St. Leonard's owes its origins to the Disruption of 1843. The original Free Church was situated at the south end of Cumming Street and was opened in February 1844. The congregation worshipped in this building for 60 years until the Forres High Church was opened in 1903. Eleven sites for the church were considered before the present site on the High Street was chosen. The approximate cost of the building and fittings was £10,000. Some 1500 people packed into the new church to hear the dedication and opening service. The High Church became St. Leonard's through union with Castlehill Church at the opposite end on the High Street. Castlehill Church incidentally traces its history back to around 1530. St. Leonard's was named after the Chapel of Chapelton dedicated to St. Leonard. All that remains of the chapel is a few foundation stones now overgrown with grass along St. Leonard's Road.

Activities:
We have a significant Mission Statement, Choir, Guild, Bible Study/Prayer Group, Youth Club and Senior Citizens' Club.

St Leonard's has a thriving Youth Ministry on a Friday evening when over 70 children and young people between the ages of 7 and 14 attend two youth clubs, known as the Friday thing (tFt) and the After Eights. Through a wide range of activities, including games, sports, movies, arts and crafts and quizzes the children and young people are introduced to the Word. Both clubs start and finish with prayer and close with the preaching of the Word.

We have a Sunday School who attend the first part of morning worship and then leave to go into the Hall. (approx 10.45am)

We have a Bible Class that meets every Sunday Morning, again after the first part of Sunday morning worship.(approx 10.45am)

St Leonard's is also linked to Rafford (Service at 9.30am) who also have a SundaySchool and St Michael's Dallas (Service at 12noon) who also have a Sunday School so there is a choice of times to suit everyone
